    Things to do...
  • Phonics lesson this week have focused recapping 'ow', 'oi', 'er', 'ch'and 'sh'. See if your child can write a list of words using each sound.
  • Talk about capacity at home.
In Jigsaw this week we have been thinking about changes. Changes in our bodies and in our lives. We talked about the emotions we were feeling about moving to Year 1, some of us were excited, some of us were scared and nervous. We watched the story 'The Huge Bag of Worries' by Virginia Ironside. We talked about the importance of sharing our worries. We decided that they could talk to their mum, dad, grandmother or grandfather or their teacher.

We've had a great time in ChIL exploring all of the different activities and enjoying the good weather.

In maths this week the children have been learning about capacity. We talked about full, half full, half empty and empty. The children compared and ordered different size containers. They could say which held the most and the least water. We talked about different ways of checking. for example using a small pot, measuring how many full small pots are required to fill the larger containers.

Good luck to all the parents and children who are taking part in the tough mudder!
Have a super weekend,
The Year R Team
