Reminders and pleas....
- The children will have a Christmas party on the afternoon of Monday 18th December . Please can every child bring in a disposable plate of food for themselves to eat. (This is in addition to lunch, not instead of lunch). This should be covered in foil or cling film or be placed in a bag with your child's name on the top. These will not be stored in a fridge. You may wish to bring a drink for your child or they can have water from their water bottle. Please ensure there are no nuts. Your child may also bring some party clothes in a labelled bag (it would be ideal that these clothes are also labelled).
- School breaks up at 2pm on Tuesday 19th December
- Your child will need a PE kit in school from January. At the moment they will not be going outside so they need a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.
- Over the Christmas holiday we would be grateful if you could take a Christmas photograph of your child so that they can do some writing about it when they get back to school. Please can you send this photo in on the first day back in January. Thursday 4th January.
- Over the holidays we will be sending Magic Moment sheets home. These give you the opportunity to send in a photo and some notes about your child's achievements at home. Examples include: family celebrations, riding a bike or a pony or learning an instrument or learning to tie their shoes!
- Above all make sure that your child has time to rest and relax and gets lots of sleep ready for the new term.
Hopefully you had a chance to meet Miss Cane at the beginning of this week. We welcome her back to the Reception team. She has been getting to know the children this week and will be in again next week. We are very sad to see Mrs Holt leaving but at least she will only be across the way in the Junior School and we wish her lots of luck there. We are also saying goodbye to Mrs Ormston who has been with us for many years. We wish her lots of luck with her move to Singapore.
The children have had lots of fun doing Christmas activities this week and playing in the snow. They have all made lovely Christmas cards (Top Secret!). The children completed the maths activities learning all about the number 10. See last week's blog for the details of these activities.
It was lovely to see all the children in their Christmas Jumpers today. We do this each year for charity. This year we raised money for GOSH which was collected after the Christmas Play.
Things to do with your child:
- Count everything focusing on numbers to 10. How many ways can your child make 10?
- Recap phonemes taught this term.
- Read with your child and encourage your child to identify rhyming words when you are reading to your child.
- Help your child write their name with the correct formation.
